We are seeking highly motivated, reliable individuals with strong interpersonal and communication skills, to lead our Extrusion team.
Requirements:
- Supervisory experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read basic measuring instruments and carry out basic arithmetic operations
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift machinery and products (40-60lbs)
- Prioritizes safety in the workplace
- High School Diploma
- Basic Computer Skills
Schedule:
- 12 hour rotating shift schedule including overnight and weekend (example on Farnell Website)
- Scheduled for 84 hours bi-weekly and rotate together with the same crew
- Some overtime available depending on production demands
Compensation:
- $22.21 /hour starting rate, incrementally increasing to $24.50/hour when fully trained (1 year)

Job Duties:
- In consultation with Shift Leader One and/or Shift Leader Two, produces film to meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Ensures a safe and clean work area.
- Follows proper safety and ISO quality procedures, as outlined in training materials, and takes corrective action when required
- Participates in, and co-ordinates “on the job” training of Extrusion Assistant positions.
- Assures good communication between shifts.
- Performs trouble-shooting and suggests improvements.
- Responsible for checking and assisting with set-ups.
- Informs and assists Maintenance personnel with the repair of equipment, as required.
- Relay all necessary information concerning the shift production and issues with oncoming shift.
- Monitors the process repeatedly throughout the production of film.
- Obtains samples for detailed testing/inspection, according to ISO work instructions.
- Completes all required paperwork (QC Report).
- Labels all rolls of film with roll labels.
- Labels all completed pallets with proper labeling.
- Places completed rolls of film in the correct marshaling area for proper placement.
- Assists in preparation of extrusion (film) products prior to passing along to Shipping or other departments, e.g. arranging product on pallets and pallet-wrapping it to ensure quality (of manufactured materials) and safety (of personnel who handle the product).
- Assists staff with daily and weekly housekeeping duties.
- Actively participates in waste reduction and recycling of designated materials.
- Demonstrates safe work practices and enforces Farnell safety policies, e.g. wearing hearing protection, safety shoes, safety glasses etc.
- Demonstrates professionalism in the Shift Leader role in the department.
- Seeks opportunities for learning/training to increase job knowledge and skills
- Able to identify film irregularities and ability to fix these problems.
- Supports planetary sustainability efforts, e.g. energy conservation (lights off, machines off when not in use, judicious use of heating and cooling, being innovative as we improve our processes, etc.)
